PAX WEST 2024

This year, PAX West celebrated its 20th anniversary. Since 2004, PAX has celebrated gaming and gaming culture, showcasing in-depth panels, countless studios and publishers from AAAs to indies, concerts, gaming tournaments, and so much more. While PAX is now an event that happens throughout the year in cities like San Antonio, Boston, Philadelphia, and Melbourne, Australia, PAX West was the one that started it all. This Seattle-based event grows every year, and our team felt like PAX West 2024, in particular, was larger than life. It filled the original Seattle Convention Center’s Annex and Arch buildings along with its newer Summit building to the brim with tabletop games, community spaces, video game console and VR freeplay, gaming merch, video game booths, and more.

From a skateboarding toad to a hauntingly beautiful romance novel, PAX West 2024 was a treasure trove of fantastic indie games. Our team had the pleasure of experiencing a wide variety of games, and we can't wait to share a few of our favorites with you.

2024 was also a landmark year for us at Game Raven Review. Our team hosted their very own panel for the first time at PAX West! We shared some of the most ridiculous indie games we could find. A date with Colonel Sanders? Mole Rats and Depression? A raccoon heist? The world of indie games is wild. We discussed what makes these games enjoyably whimsical or just plain weird and discovered how the indie game genre fosters such incredible creative freedom — we even included some newcomers in 2024!
